POLICE are investigating a spate of suspicious grass fires within the NSW alpine area.
Between 6.40pm and 9.45pm on Monday (December 19), 5 grass fires alongside the roadways at Crackenback, East Jindabyne, Avonside and Varney’s Vary – all inside 45 kilometres of one another – have been reported to police.
NSW Rural Fireplace Service extinguished all 5 fires.
Police say the fires haven’t trigger main injury and there are not any reviews of harm.
Officers hooked up to Monaro Police District established crimes scenes and are investigating whether or not the fires – that are believed to have been intentionally lit – are linked.
Anybody with info is urged to contact Cooma Police on 6452 0099 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333000.
